Who Are Trekco? TrekCo is an outdoor activity company run by two ex-teachers, Steve Ranger and Paul Morley. We used to be organisers of Outdoor Education and DofE in schools, so we know exactly what teachers want from their school trips. The company started in 1989, and since then we have always aimed to offer excellence in our instruction alongside an extremely friendly, relaxed yet professional atmosphere. We now have a large team of instructors in the summer, including a friendly and approachable team of highly qualified and experienced instructors in a wide range of activities. Why Should I Choose Trekco for my School Trip? At TrekCo we aim to do everything for you – organise the instruction, food, accommodation and evening activities so that teaching staff can concentrate on ensuring that the students get the maximum benefit from the trip. We all know that Outdoor Education has proven, tangible benefits for students and that the transformation in them in just a short period can be quite amazing – at TrekCo we aim to give students an experience they will never forget on their school trip. Our strength is in our instructors – we only employ staff who are career outdoor instructors, and our staff’s experience level is far higher than the industry average. They are also slightly older than the average and the advantages of experience in instruction are apparent. If you are looking for a company of dedicated, committed outdoor people who know how to have fun and how to give you and the students a thoroughly good school trip, contact us. We guarantee you will be pleased with your choice. Every group has its own Course Leader who stays with the course for its duration, as do the instructional team with your course. This ensures continuity for the students – your instructors will be working on your site and available for the duration of your course. At night there is a Duty Instructor who is available to you at any time. What Can I Expect From Trekco? TrekCo run school trips for you as we would expect to run them for ourselves – we used to be teachers ourselves and ran the outdoor education programme at our school, so we know exactly what you need. Since 1989 we have run trips for countless schools and there is no doubt that the customer satisfaction levels we achieve are superb. We make sure that you and your students are treated as individuals! How Do I Book? If you are organising an outdoor visit for a school, you have various responsibilities and sets of regulations/guidelines to comply with. Most relevant documents used to be found on Teachernet, were then moved to the DoE website, but are now not published (see below). Some LEAs have regulations which differ from these; it is vital that you check your own LEA’s guidelines too. In May 2012 the Government stopped publishing guidelines on how to organise school trips; however the Outdoor Education Advisers’ Panel (comprised of the Advisors from the LEAs) have published a new website at: http://oeapng.info/ Sample Letters First Letter – Download Here Sample Letter – follow up – Download Here
