There are many reasons for doing your DofE Gold Open Expedition in the Peak District.

The area is accessible, between Sheffield and Manchester, but still a wild upland area so don’t underestimate the challenge! You can get to the start point by train to our operating area based in the Hope Valley, or come by car.

The Peak District is generally drier than some other UK upland areas, as it’s a little further south and east.

In the Peak District National Park wild camping isn’t permitted so we use campsites every night - this means that there will be toilets and other facilities available all of the time.
