Costs

The cost of the weekend includes:

  • Instruction on every activity by fully qualified and experienced instructors
  • All specialist equipment

It doesn’t include:

  • Travel Insurance (this can be taken out by you, but make sure it includes hazardous activities)
  • Lunch and evening meals
  • Transport to the Peak District and to/from activities

Accommodation

We’ll book this for you; just choose which type of accommodation you’d like according to the group’s budget and preference.

Cost is £96 per person for which you need a group of 8 people

Equipment

All specialist equipment is provided – helmets, wetsuits, harnesses etc. as appropriate.

You will need generally:

  • Waterproof jacket
  • Plenty of rough old clothes
  • Changes of footwear
  • A small rucsac for lunch, drink, spare clothing etc.

For Rock scrambling: clothes you are prepared to discard afterwards

For Hillwalking: walking boots, small rucsac (for spare clothes, lunch etc.), waterproof jacket & trousers, hat & gloves, torch, spare jumper.

For Rock climbing: loose clothes, trainers (not boots)

For Abseiling: nothing

Notes:

  1. Walking boots don’t need to be big old fashioned leather boots. The crucial thing is that they have a good grip on the sole. Trainers aren’t suitable, but outdoor type shoes, trekking boots or lightweight walking boots are fine.
  2. Please make sure your waterproof jacket is waterproof. Usually training tops like Nike, Adidas etc are not waterproof; nor are ski jackets.
  3. Fleeces or woollen jumpers are great; sweatshirts or any other cotton tops are no good at all for keeping you warm.
  4. Please don’t ignore the ‘torch’ item. Make sure you have a working torch with batteries. This is important for safety in case we are caught out late.
  5. Don’t bother bringing anything valuable or even vaguely smart; it’s really not worth it.
  6. Mobile phones can be a distraction from activities; also bear in mind that the signal is very poor and non-existent in places.

  • The Trekking Company has £10 million public liability cover for the provision of hazardous activities.
  • Transport to activities is by your own car (we will organise car sharing) – those coming by train will car share
  • After activities we will have dinner at an appropriate (often pub) venue. This will vary as locations & timing of activities varies.
  • The Trekking Company use highly qualified and experienced staff to run activities – sometimes we have to modify, cut short or change an activity due to the weather or other safety factors. Whilst this is unusual, if it happens we will always try to provide you with another activity.
