Steve Ranger, TrekCo’s founder (and author of this blog), is attempting Cho Oyu this autumn. I’m currently waiting to leave Kathmandu to attempt this 8,200m mountain  – the world’s 6th highest peak. It has been a long time assembling all of the equipment, and for those of you who know TrekCo and our staff I will be climbing with Rajen Thapa (Raj). Raj owns a mountaineering company in Nepal called www.climbhighhimalaya.com and is the deputy expedition leader. I’d like to say that I’ll keep the blog updated, but we won’t have much Internet access so I’ll post details on my return to Kathmandu.

For those of you who haven’t travelled to Nepal, please try it. This is one of the most amazing, fascinating and crazy places you’ll ever visit. My personal favourite is Himalayan Java in Thamel for great coffee, which will not surprise anyone who knows me. But seriously, this country is a wonderful, friendly, safe place where the people are so welcoming and helpful that you wish people were like it everywhere. Walking down the street in Kathmandu you’ll see beggars, elephants, cows, everything – and oddly the only people in nice four wheel drive vehicles are the aid workers…

More later! Steve
