Information about BTEC Level 3 Sport (Outdoor Adventure) with TrekCo

At TrekCo we believe in practical experience for instructors, and our BTEC course is based on getting as much time actually outdoors as possible!

The BTEC course is split between two Sussex locations – the main base of the course and home for theory work is at college in Hove, and practical work is based at our centre at Blackland Farm, just south of East Grinstead. There is minibus transport from college to East Grinstead on practical days.
This course includes a lot of trips away from Sussex – to the Peak District, the Lake District, Wales and the French Alps. These will incur some extra costs to students due to the extra accommodation and transport costs but are considered as highly valuable experience. There are also optional ‘open’ trips which you can join voluntarily to increase your experience, but which are not an integral part of the course.

This course is free for 16-19 year olds. There are requirements for personal equipment and some extra costs for trips away which are not included in the course fees; all of these details are in the Course Information Document.

When is the course?

The next course starts in the academic year 2018-2019, commencing early September 2018 and ending in June 2019. Exact dates to be published in the Course Information Document, sent out to applicants.

A kit list will be provided before the start of the course listing everything you’ll need. A subsidised equipment package (worth £1,000) is available for less than half price to keep you safe, warm and dry:  technical clothing, helmet, harness, rock boots, wetsuit and loads more.
